Spring Dance 2009

Saturday April 25th, 2009, Village Green Hotel, Vernon

The Swiss Spring Dance was held on April 25th at the Village Green in Vernon. Attendance was acceptable but could have been better. For those of you that missed it, all I can say is you missed a great time. We hope you put the date on your calendar for next year and/or bring a friend. Many thanks to Fred Affolter and the Village Green Hotel who sponsored some of the raffled items. We also had some prices leftover from the bowling tournament so many thanks to those people that donated them. One table of guests (shall remain unnamed) won most of the prizes but that is how it goes sometimes.

The organization of the function was superb. We enjoyed the singing group "Late Harvest", Dave Lewis, Jim Johnson, Ian Rene & Ted Bajer, singing many old favourites, some of which, we could sing along. The main entertainment was our one piece band by Kevin Kienlein was fabulous. He knew exactly how to keep the crowd up on the dance floor. Some of our senior dancers could qualify for “Dancing with the Stars!”

Everyone was mingling, moving from table to table to visit old and new friends. Lots of laughter and at the end of the evening there was a definite reluctance to shut it down. We even had a visit from a very distant relative of Mick Jagger. The imitation of the singer’s dance style was not that pure but it was funny as he--!!

In fact, I believe some people were so reluctant to leave their company/friends that they made their way to the Casino, just down the hall. This late night did not prevent them from showing up early for breakfast.
