ISC AGM Minutes
Saturday April 16, 2011

Interior Swiss Club 2011 Annual General Meeting
Location: The Odd Fellow Hall, Armstrong, B.C.

Welcome and opening-

Quorum confirmed-17 members present

Introduction of members present was completed

Acceptance of Agenda
Kurt Zwingli moved to accept the agenda. 2nd by Nick Radelfinger. Carried

Minutes of 2010 AGM were read by Karen Cleland.
Elisabeth Nyfeler moved to accept minutes. 2nd Edith Brenner. Carried

Presidents Report
Lilly Senn reported on past and future events and thanked all volunteers and the executive for their continued involvement and help at the various functions.
Helena Hasler moved to accept president’s report. 2nd Marian Zwingli. Carried

Treasurers Report read by Trudy Feller on behalf of Elisabeth Reymond
Trudy Feller presented the financial statements for 2010. A lengthy discussion followed on how the club should handle and disburse the funds for the various events.
The following motion was moved by Helen Hasler and seconded by Elisabeth Nyfeler:

A contingency fund of $12,000.00 be created and the rest of the money to be the operating fund of our club. The motion was defeated.

The members said that they were happy with the way the club was being run, with a basically balanced yearly budget. The money invested with the Bank of Montreal receives some interest, which helps to subsidize some events. The club should, however, try if at all possible to at least break even at the events.

Kurt Zwingli moved to accept the treasurer’s report, 2nd Nick Radelfinger. Carried

Membership report: No report was presented due to Elisabeth Reymond being absent..

Auditors Report-
Trudy Feller reported that the financial statements are in good standing and thanked Elisabeth Reymond for her excellent work on the clubs behalf. Trudy asked that in the future receipts be handed in in a larger format so that it is easier to read them at audit time.
Helena Hasler moved to accept the auditor’s report. 2nd Marian Zwingli. Carried.

Misc Business:

Bowling reports-Kamloops, Vernon and Salmon Arm all report that they had a great season and plan to continue this year. The bowling tournament was again a big success; held in Salmon Arm. It was decided that the next bowling tournament would be in Salmon Arm again.

Website-Kurt was thanked for his great work keeping the website updated.

Newsletter- Hansjoerg Mueller is the new editor/publisher. Lilly thanked him for the excellent job he is doing in publishing the newsletter. She pointed out that any member who would like to have articles published to get in touch with Hansjoerg directly.

Obituaries- A minute of silence was held for Paula Beyeler, Ed Wunderli, Gordy Camenzind and Karl Boppart

Executive meeting is scheduled for Tuesday May 10th, 2011 at 11:30 at the O’Keefe Ranch Restaurant in Vernon.

Canadian Consulate
Lilly Senn informed the members that our Consul General Walter Deplazes and his wife Siegrid left the post in Vancouver and are now residing in Dubai. We wish him all the best in his new endeavour.
Our new Consul General Urs Strausak will come to Vancouver sometimes in June 2011.
Statistics received from the Consulate show that currently 504 Swiss families and 933 Swiss Singles are living in the Okanagan region

The 27th Pacific Coast Swiss Singing & Yodeling Festival
will be held from June 23 – 26, 2001 at UBC Vancouver, B.C. Everybody is welcome to take in this great event.

Dance- The executive will be discussing to possibly have a dance this year. Location and dance music not know yet.

1st of August-Celebration at Cache Creek and possible Vernon/Salmon Arm celebrations as well.

Bowling Tournament 2012 will again be in Salmon Arm early April.

Nominations were also made from the floor by Lilly Senn, she nominated Peter Wyss for President and or director, he declined, she also nominated Franziska Frei for president and or director and she also declined.

The Board of Directors was elected by acclamation.

Lilly Senn thanked Margaret Vollmin for her years of service and welcomed Yvonne Gawlig as new director to the board.

Newsletter is still used by those with no internet access and is now only sent out in the spring and summer. Karen Cleland resigned from her position as newsletter editor after 7 years. Margaret Volmin is taking over this position. Suggestion was made from the floor that the newsletter should have more “Swiss” content.

Karen Cleland to contact interested party, Bettina Berger, to explain ISC membership and events

Suggestion made from the floor that the club purchase a party tent for use in Cache Creek and at other events. Lilly to check cost. It was suggested that the tent would also be available for rental for weddings etc to recover some of the cost of purchase.

Suggestion was made from the floor that all long time members be “invited” to the 55th Anniversary Celebration (free of charge). All in attendance were in agreement.

Executive Meeting set for May 12th Okeefe Ranch 11:30.

Spring Dance-will re-evaluate after this one; possibly only hold one when there is an event/group in town
Christmas party will be cancelled due to lack of interest and declining number of small children.
Kaffeeklatsch is no longer happening in Vernon.
Aug 1st in Cache Creek will be potluck only; no selling of sausage and bread this year due to lack of organizers. Will be back on track for dinner sales for 2010 celebration.
